Units of Measure
================

Units of Measure is a key concept in Wood InsightsPlatform (WIP) that allows for better visualisations and assessments. Tags, the fundamental data element of WIP, can be associated with an engineering unit type. This assignment enables all visuals and displays to convert between different engineering units seamlessly, without extra calculations or conversions.

In WIP, you configure units of measure under :menuselection:`Configuration --> Units of Measure`, which involve the following:

- Setting up :term:`unit types<Unit Type>` and unit conversions as described in :ref:`conf.uom.unit_type`.
- Setting up :term:`unit sets<Unit Set>` as described in :ref:`conf.uom.unit_set`.
